Youth Opportunities PDF Print E-mail

Attention students looking for jobs, there will be a youth job fair  hosted by the City of Toronto, Tropicana, Employment Ontario and AYCE Employment Services on Thursday January 30th from 2-5pm at the Oriole Community Centre, located at 2975 Don Mills Road.  Many positions such as customer service rep, sales, cashier, camp counselor, and stocker to name a few are available so please bring copies of your resumes and be prepared to meet the following organizations: Sobeys, Sheridan Nurseries, Canadian Tire, Toronto Police, YMCA, City of Toronto, Innovativevision, Boys and Girls Club of West Scarborough and Zipcar. For further information, please contact Kabilan Mohanarajan at 416-491-7000, ext. 273.

Community Champion Scholarship PDF Print E-mail

The Rotary Club of Toronto and the Toronto Argonauts are sponsoring a "Community Champion Scholarship", renewable for 4 years.  The criteria for applying to this scholarship are:

  • Financial need
  • Grades sufficient for acceptance into a university program
  • Activity in school groups and/or recognized leadership
  • Community service

If some or all of these criteria apply to you, you may be eligible to receive this scholarship.  The full application package is available below:

New Job and Volunteer Opportunities PDF Print E-mail

Attention Thomson students, the following job and volunteer opportunities are now available:

Canada Summer Jobs, a Government of Canada initiative that promotes the hiring of students for meaningful work experiences during the summer months, now has their applications available on-line for their 2014 Canada Summer Jobs Program. For more information and to access the application that must be submitted by January 10, 2014 please visit the Service Canada website at www.servicecanada.gc.ca/eng/epb/yi/yep/programs/scpp.shtml.

Also, G.B. Catering is looking for 150 people to work in summer camp kitchens as dishwashers, kitchen helpers, cooks, bakers, sous chefs, and chef managers across Ontario. Attention Grade 12 students, counsellors will be available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (Dec. 10-12) in the Library during lunch time to help you with your Post-Secondary application.

Exciting Community Programs PDF Print E-mail

Attention students the following are all exciting community programs being offered by Dorset Park Youth Service Provider Network in partnership with Rosalie Hall, Agincourt Community Services, the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Children's Aid Society of Toronto:

Interested in learning how to film and edit video, future directors, writers and producers your time is now as a free youth program for ages 15-29 is being offered every Saturday starting November 9th from 10:30am - 1pm at the Protech Media Centre (2380 Eglinton East).  You will have access to professional cameras and video editing software, get hands on experience using Adobe CS5 and lunch and bus tickets are provided.  Also offered by the Movement is a Movement Master Class for youth between 15-25 on Tuesdays frin 4-7pm at the Dorset Park Hub at 1911 Kennedy Road.  You will get the tools you need to make a positive difference, 40 volunteer hours and a reference letter and meet with other youth who want to make a difference. 

Finally The Movement at McGregor Park Community Centre (2231 Lawrence Avenue) has leadership and volunteer opportunities, life skills and debate programs with games and snacks for youth between 15-29 on Mondays/ Thursdays/Fridays from 3-7pm.
