Life After High School - Nov. 27, 2012 PDF Print E-mail

The Bendale/David and Mary Thomson Community   present “Life After High School…” which is a pathways event designed to help students plan out their future.  This event will be taking place on Tuesday November 27, 2012 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the Library at Bendale BTI.  There will be representativesfrom local community colleges, trades and apprenticeships and community agencies.  For more information please call Bendale BTI at 416-369-6695.

Homework Help is Here!! PDF Print E-mail

If you are a Grade 9 or 10 student looking for some extra help with your homework then please drop by to Room 202 on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunch.  Mr. Barghout's wonderful PASS Leadership students along with some of Thomson's finest teachers are eager to assist you with daily homework and assignment completion.

If you are too busy during your lunch then please come to Centennial College's Afterschool Mentoring and Tutoring program on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 in Room 200.  Professor Claude Nembhard and his college students are available to help you with your homework, plan out your future or talk about any problems you may be experiencing in your life.  They also organize fun activities and invite guest speakers to their sessions.  It is a very worthwhile experience.

 
UTSC Campus Day - Saturday November 10, 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Uof T Scarborough College has a campus program tour day scheduled for Saturday November 10, 2012.  Students will be able to tour the campus and talk to professors and university students.  Any students who are interested in attending this fine institution can register online at: www.utoronto.ca/fallcampusdays.

 
OCAS/OUAC Eligibility PDF Print E-mail

A Guidance Counsellor will be visiting all Grade 12 homeforms over the next couple of weeks to check student eligibility for applying to OCAS (College) and OUAC (Unversity).  Any senior students who are not in a Grade 12 homeform and are planning to apply to university or college this year are asked to please come down to Student Services during lunch time to check their eligibilty.

 
Applied Arts Creative Schools Expo & Winners' Exhibit PDF Print E-mail
This exhibit showcases 1000 winning pieces from our prestigious annual competitions for Design, Advertising, Interactive, Illustration and Photography.  The event is slated for OCTOBER 31st & NOVEMBER 1st, 2012 (9:30 am - 3 pm) and will be held at Artscape Wychwood Barns, in the St. Clair and Christie area of Toronto
 
A Trade Show for art colleges and universities is also featured.  This is an opportunity for students to see the best work produced by creative professionals and senior level students plus learn about post-secondary studies within the following areas: Advertising, Animation Design, Art Design, Film, Game Design, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interaction Design, Packaging Design, Photo Design, Photography, Product Design, Visual Arts, Visual Communications, Website Design.  For students planning their college applications, the Applied Arts Creative Expo provides face-to-face contact with post-school representatives. 

Finally there are free career workshops featuring professionals from the photography, design, advertising, web media, illustration, etc. fields who will each speak about their experiences, and how they were able to achieve success. These workshops will run from 9:45 until 2:30 on both days.
