Youth Community Opportunities Print

Attention students there are a number of great opportunities to get involved and have fun in your local community.  The Dorset Park Hub at 1911 Kennedy Rd is offering volunteer hours, free food and bus tickets, computer access, first aid and food handling training and interesting debates and discussions every Monday starting November 4th from 3:30-6pm for youth 15 to 23 years old. 

Also for youth between 15 - 29 years of age that have an interest in learning how to film and edit video, The Hub has ten spots available in a new program starting on Saturday November 9th at their Protect Media Centre (Kennedy and Eglinton), which provides experience with video editing software, access to professional cameras and hands on experience using Adobe CS5. Lunch and bus tickets will be provided.

A third exciting community program is The Movement Master Class, a 12 week workshop series designed to give individuals the tools needed to make a positive difference in their lives and communities, running Tuesdays from 4-6pm at the Dorset Park Hub for youth between 15-23. Participants will give 40 volunteer hours, a reference letter, up to $1000 and support to develop a community project and once again food and bus tickets are free.

Finally, The Cypher is another free program at McGregor Park on Mondays from 2-5:30pm for youth15-29 years of age that are ready to be heard. You will be able to record your songs, create videos of your poems, learn how to compose music and take part in lyrical challenges.
